COCANA stands for "Centre for Optimization, Convex Analysis and Nonsmooth Analysis." Researchers at UBC Okanagan with interest and expertise in these areas include: Heinz Bauschke, Julian Cheng, Warren Hare, Abbas Milani, Jason Loeppky, Yves Lucet, Solomon Tesfamariam, and Shawn Wang.

We currently have several Graduate Students in Optimization: Soroor Sarafrazi, Vahid Beiranvand, Sarah Moffat, and Jim Nastos. Former graduates include Dessalegn Hirpa, Sukanto Mondal, Shahadat Hossain, Khan Jakee, Valentin Koch, Jason Schaad, Mike Trienis, Md Faisal Rahman, and Liangjin Yao.
